Which job do you want help with?
A great film diary and a useful answer to “what should I watch tonight?” can overlap. They do not require the same habit. Letterboxd gives you a place to record and discuss films. ReelRecs gives you a personal recommendation workflow to use before choosing one.

Letterboxd's official overview describes its diary, reviews, watchlist and social features. Paid subscriptions add features including service filters and viewing statistics. Those are useful reasons to keep an established account. Letterboxd overview.
A routine for someone who already logs films
Suppose your favorites include GoodFellas, Before Sunrise and Arrival. Those three favorites suggest different interests. The useful question is which part of your taste a new film might satisfy tonight.
Start ReelRecs by rating titles you have genuinely watched. Include some disappointments as well as favorites. This is a manual setup; you are not connecting your Letterboxd account or importing its history. Open For You, choose a candidate, and read the explanation beside its Rec Score. Check whether the stated connection sounds like the reason you enjoyed your favorites.
Our personal recommendations walkthrough shows an existing test profile investigating Killers of the Flower Moon. It receives Rec Score 8.0, and the explanation refers to that profile's rating of GoodFellas. The page also shows a running time of 3 hours 26 minutes. Someone with ninety minutes available should save it for another evening, however promising the score looks.
That is the practical value of inspecting the reason and title details together. You can decide that a film fits your taste while choosing something else for tonight. The example is not a prediction for everyone who likes GoodFellas.
Keep your history where you want it
You do not need two complete records. Keep your diary and longer reviews in Letterboxd. Use ReelRecs to investigate a recommendation you heard from a friend, find a personal suggestion, or recover a saved possibility. After watching, give ReelRecs a rating so its profile reflects your response. Write the longer reaction wherever you already enjoy doing that.
Save only candidates you would consider watching. The saved-list walkthrough shows how to find them again. A small usable shortlist is more helpful during a tired evening than copying every title from an old collection.
Is another account worth it?
If following a few trusted Letterboxd members reliably leads you to films you love, that may be enough. Try ReelRecs when you regularly have attractive suggestions but still want help assessing personal fit. Its iPhone download is free; creating your taste profile takes participation, and watching a recommended film may require a separate service or rental.
