Use ReelRecs alongside Letterboxd or Trakt

Keep your diary in Letterboxd or your episode history in Trakt. Rate familiar titles separately in ReelRecs, inspect a personal suggestion or search a candidate, and save what interests you. This is a manual companion routine; it does not import or synchronize your existing account.

Keep the record that already works

A long viewing history contains more than star ratings. Dates, rewatches, reviews and the people you follow can be valuable parts of a habit. You can try a different way to choose without moving that archive.

Give each app a clear job. Your existing diary or tracker remembers what happened. ReelRecs helps investigate the next movie or show through your personal profile. After watching, you decide where to keep the detailed record.

Choose familiar titles from your existing history

In Letterboxd, look at films you remember having a clear reaction to. A high rating and a lower one within the same broad genre can communicate more than a list of acclaimed favorites. If a diary entry explains why you felt differently at the time, use it to recall your own reaction.

In Trakt, begin with films or series you have actually watched and can judge. An episode marked watched does not automatically establish a rating for an entire series. Pick titles where your opinion is formed rather than copying every completed item.

You are using the old record as a memory aid. There is no account connection in this routine, and no file upload is required.

Build the ReelRecs starting profile

Create your ReelRecs account and follow its taste setup. Search the familiar titles and record your own opinions. Include dislikes or mixed reactions where you remember them; you are not trying to present a perfectly consistent film identity.

The amount of repeated entry is a real tradeoff. Begin with the required setup and a useful selection rather than recreating years of history. If automatic import is essential to you, this manual companion method will not meet that requirement.

Investigate a new candidate

Open For You or search a film from your existing watchlist. Inspect its personal score and explanation before deciding. In our recorded example, an established profile investigates Killers of the Flower Moon. Its Rec Score is 8.0, and the reason connects to prior ratings, including GoodFellas. The runtime of 3 hours 26 minutes can still make it a choice for a longer evening.

Those October 15, 2026 results belong to that demonstration profile in version 1.0.43. Entering a few matching favorites does not promise that your account will receive the same number.

Save the useful possibility

Bookmark the title if you want to consider it again. The save-and-return walkthrough shows Profile, Bookmarks and See all, then reopens the same saved film. Use Where to Watch when you are ready to investigate access, and confirm the offer with the provider.

You can keep one short active list in ReelRecs instead of duplicating every old watchlist entry. That limits repeated maintenance and gives you a clear place to begin the next choosing session.

After watching, keep the work intentional

Continue writing reviews or tracking episodes in the tool you already use. If you want your ReelRecs profile to reflect the new experience, give it your reaction there as well. That second action is manual.

Try this routine across a few real choices. If the personal explanations help you assess candidates, keep the complementary jobs. If maintaining another profile adds more effort than value, your original diary remains intact.
