Why choose ReelRecs for your next watch?

ReelRecs brings the personal recommendation and the next action into the same decision. Your ratings help shape a shortlist across movies and TV. A Rec Score predicts how a title fits your taste, and its explanation connects that suggestion to things you know. Platform filters narrow candidates to the services you choose. Save a promising title in Bookmarks or open Where to Watch when you are ready.

That combination is useful when you have several subscriptions and want a reason to choose one film tonight. You can evaluate the fit, check access and keep another candidate for later without losing the original suggestion. A familiar title found through search, a friend or Pulse can enter the same path.

A recommendation you can understand

In a recorded first session, a profile rated six titles, including GoodFellas and Breaking Bad. The first personal picks included The Godfather. Opening its Rec Score of 10 connected the recommendation to that profile’s GoodFellas rating of 8.3 and Breaking Bad rating of 10.

The viewer has a recognizable reason to consider the film. The six-rating demonstration includes all six inputs and the original captures. It was a recorded QA session; picks and scores vary by profile and model.

A choice that includes the people watching

Watch+ uses the tastes of the profiles that join a group. A Group Score predicts shared fit, while Would Watch and Pass let members say what interests them now. In the two-profile walkthrough, both members express interest in Toy Story 2, which has a Group Score of 9.6 for that group.

The shared prediction supplies a candidate; the responses help the group settle on it. Each participant needs an account and ratings for their taste to inform the group. Watch+ helps people choose; playback and any remote start-time arrangement remain with the viewers and their providers.

More ways to find something that fits

Your next choice can begin with a rising show, a friend’s rating or a collection someone has made. ReelRecs keeps personal context available as you explore.

The data foundation behind personal picks

ReelRecs combines the opinions you enter with title information and licensed viewing history. ReelRecs licenses PeerLogix’s entire historical viewing collection for model training, covering more than one billion viewing observations over more than ten years.

That history supplies relationships between titles across catalogs and markets before you have built a long rating record. Your explicit ratings help the model find connections that matter to you. This is why a few familiar favorites and disappointments can provide a useful starting point.

PeerLogix confirms the license, and its methodology describes the accumulated collection. The billion-observation figure describes the supplier’s history, not ReelRecs users or guaranteed enjoyment. How ReelRecs recommendations work explains how those inputs contribute.

What our results show

These findings address personal ordering, discovery and the step toward watching. Each has its own comparison and meaning.

Personal favorites ranked above dislikes in 94% of test pairs

In ReelRecs’s internal ordering evaluation, the system ranked a loved title above a disliked title 94% of the time, versus 50% for its placebo. This tests whether the ranking distinguishes a person’s positive and negative reactions. It is an ordering result, not the percentage of viewers satisfied with every recommendation. How this test works.

About 27 times the hidden-favorite recovery of the crowd-rating baseline

A separate internal evaluation recovered 26.9% of hidden favorites in the top 20 recommendations, versus 1.0% using the app’s crowd-rating baseline. The ratio is 26.9, rounded to about 27×. These tests measure ordering and recovery; they do not measure satisfaction rates or a head-to-head win over named competing apps. Personalization test definitions.

Across the 45-day window through October 26, 2026, real-user visits that reached a streaming-service link took a mean of 3m24s and a median of 2m52s from app open to the first link tap. New-user visits can include signup and initial ratings. Internal, QA and test accounts, and visits without a tap, are excluded.

For context, Nielsen’s separate 2023 viewer survey reported a 10m30s average deciding what to watch. The ratio of those means is about 3×. The studies use different populations and methods; a ReelRecs link tap records the handoff to a provider, rather than confirmed playback. Timing methods and Nielsen source.

How to read the scores and activity

Rec Score predicts a title’s fit for you. Your Rating records your own opinion. Friend Score and World Score add other people’s ratings; Group Score estimates fit for the joined Watch+ group. A high score is most useful when you know whose taste it describes. All score definitions.

Taste Match concerns shared rated titles. Would Watch expresses current interest. Pulse viewing activity shows attention within a stated scope, while My Stats describes the titles you rated. My Stats does not automatically measure playback across your streaming accounts.
