ReelRecs guides
Turn a Notes movie list into a watchlist you can use
Keep the original note, identify each movie by title and year, and add a small set manually to ReelRecs. Reopen the saved titles from Profile → Bookmarks → See all before expanding the list. This method uses search and bookmarks, without assuming an automatic Notes import.

Give each line one clear meaning
A Notes list often mixes things to watch with things already watched, misspelled titles and reminders about who suggested them. Resolve those meanings before moving anything. Preserve a copy of the note so the context remains available.
Consider this sample:
| Line in the note | Uncertainty | Useful next action |
|---|---|---|
| “Dune, the newer one” | The exact adaptation and year | Check the poster, cast and release year before selecting a title |
| “Past lifes, recommended by Sam” | Spelling and the reason it was saved | Search for the intended Past Lives entry; retain Sam's note separately |
| “Arrival, watched, liked the ending” | A viewing opinion mixed with future intentions | Decide whether to rate it, keep a rewatch candidate, or both |
This is an illustrative cleanup exercise. The actual save-and-recover evidence below uses Past Lives (2023).
Move a useful handful first
Start with films you might choose soon. Search each title in ReelRecs and open its details. Read enough of the premise to confirm you found the intended work. A matching name alone can hide a remake or similarly titled film.
For an unseen candidate, inspect your personal score and its explanation, then bookmark it if you want to keep it. Avoid giving a watched rating merely because the title was present in a note. A rating should reflect your experience of the film.
If the note contains a personal reminder, such as why Sam suggested it, keep that context in Notes. This guide does not assume ReelRecs bookmarks contain an editable private note field.
Check that the return path works
Our recorded save-and-return guide follows Past Lives from its title page into the saved collection. The viewer bookmarks it, leaves, opens Profile and selects See all beneath Bookmarks. Reopening it shows the same title with the bookmark filled.
The October 15, 2026 recording used version 1.0.43 and an established rated profile. The title showed personal Rec Score 7.0. That is a result for the demonstration account, not a number this cleanup exercise promises for yours.
Use the same return check for the small set you add. If a title is missing, resolve that entry before copying another fifty. A short list that you can find again is already a useful improvement.
Keep history separate from future choices
A film already watched can belong in your ratings and still be a future rewatch. Decide deliberately which intention you want to record. In the documented example, bookmarking a film did not increase the count of ranked titles. The saved list and opinion history have different jobs.
When the original note contains two versions of the same recommendation, inspect the exact film and bookmark state before treating them as two candidates. This is a manual check; it does not demonstrate automatic duplicate removal.
Retire the note only when it stops adding value
You may want to keep it indefinitely for names, context and older suggestions. Use ReelRecs as the place where your active movie candidates connect to personal fit and provider options. Leave the archive in Notes if moving it would add work without improving the next choice.
When choosing tonight, begin with the saved set and investigate current access. The point of the cleanup is to recover a film you want, rather than to finish transferring every line.
