Turn saved screenshots and social recommendations into a watchlist

Turn a saved recommendation into an exact title while you still remember it. Identify the film and year, search it in ReelRecs, inspect its details and bookmark it. Keep the original screenshot or message when the recommender’s reason matters; this is a manual process.

Capture the title before the context disappears

A screenshot may show a poster without a name. A video may mention five films while its caption names none. A message might say “watch the one I told you about.” The first useful step is turning that clue into a precise candidate.

Where the suggestion arrived What to record What to keep outside ReelRecs
A screenshot of a post or poster Exact title and release year when visible Original image and the creator's explanation
A short video recommendation The title spoken or shown, plus a confirming actor or director Video link and the part that interested you
A friend's message Correct film and why they thought you would like it The conversation or a short private note

This routine does not require connecting a social account or uploading a screenshot to ReelRecs. Search and bookmark are the demonstrated product actions.

Resolve the work before assessing the recommendation

Read the source caption or return to the relevant moment in the video. If a title has remakes or several matching search results, use year, cast and premise to identify it. Ask the friend when the reference is still ambiguous. Guessing can give you a well-organized list of the wrong films.

Search the intended title in ReelRecs and open its details. Check that it matches the source. Keep the original material until you have enough confidence, especially when a creator's point was about a particular edition or adaptation.

Add your own taste to someone else's suggestion

A creator can explain what they value in a film without sharing your preferences. Read the personal score and available explanation in your ReelRecs account. Consider whether the connection matches the reason you were interested.

The known-title walkthrough uses Past Lives (2023) to show this sequence. A rated demonstration profile receives Rec Score 7.0, investigates the title and opens provider information. The number is specific to that recorded account; your result can differ.

A promising prediction also leaves room for timing. The film can be worth keeping while being too long, too intense or outside tonight's budget.

Save, leave and recover the same candidate

Use the bookmark on the title page. When ready to return, open Profile, find Bookmarks and use its See all control. Our recorded save-and-return example recovers Past Lives from that collection and reopens the same film with its filled bookmark.

Those screens were captured October 15, 2026 in version 1.0.43. They show manual saving and retrieval. They do not establish screenshot recognition, automatic social imports or a share-sheet transfer into the app.

Preserve the reason when it helps you choose

Keep “Sam loved the ending” or the creator's discussion in the original conversation or Notes. A bookmark alone does not claim to store who recommended a film or their exact reason. If that detail matters later, a link back to the source is enough.

Process new suggestions in small batches. Recover one saved candidate during your next choosing occasion before adding dozens more. Check its current provider offer when you are ready to watch. This closes the useful loop: a recommendation found elsewhere becomes a film you can assess and find again.
