Likewise alternatives for film and TV recommendations

For focused movie and TV discovery, consider ReelRecs or Taste; for film diaries and community reviews, consider Letterboxd. Keep Likewise/Pix if its broader books, podcasts and screen recommendations are useful. Its current Pix Media mobile page still calls the mobile product the Likewise app.

Check which part of Likewise you use

As checked October 23, 2026, the public web presence is Pix Media, and its mobile page still invites visitors to download the Likewise app. That page describes movies, TV shows, books, podcasts, personalized recommendations and a tailored community feed.

A brand change alone is not a reason to assume that your reading lists or app features have disappeared. Begin with what you can still use and what you want to improve.

Pick an alternative by the decision

Need Option worth considering
Personal movie and TV choices with reasons to inspect ReelRecs
Another rating-based film and television recommendation service Taste
Film diaries, member reviews and curated lists Letterboxd
Finding where a named movie can play JustWatch
Discovery across books, podcasts and screen entertainment Keep evaluating Likewise/Pix against that wider need

A focused film app should earn its place by improving screen decisions. It does not need to take over your reading routine to be useful.

Work through a screen-only example

Suppose you discover an interesting drama in a newsletter, while your existing app holds books you plan to read. Keep the books where they are. Search the film in ReelRecs, confirm its release year and inspect the personal score explanation.

The title-checking flow shows how to move from a known title to its details and provider choices. If the reason appeals but the film is too demanding for tonight, save it and return later. That solves one decision without rebuilding the rest of your media life.

Taste offers another film-and-TV option based on ratings. Compare what you can learn from the recommendation, the ease of finding saved candidates and the amount of preference setup you are willing to maintain.

Decide whether you want people, predictions or both

A community feed can introduce a title through someone's enthusiasm. A personal prediction asks whether that title resembles aspects of your own taste. Both can help, but they create different reasons to trust a suggestion.

When a person recommends a film, look for the explanation. Did they enjoy its pacing, its cast or a subject you care about? When an app recommends it, inspect whatever reason it provides. “Recommended for you” is a starting point for investigation, not the whole answer.

If most of your enjoyment comes from following people, test whether a new app contains the kind of conversation you want before moving. A feature table cannot transfer an existing community.

Keep expectations about history modest

Save any lists or exports you can obtain before changing tools. Check the destination's current documentation for the exact format it accepts. This guide does not claim that ReelRecs imports Likewise books, film ratings or friend relationships.

For a small trial, manually bring over three movie candidates. Use ReelRecs through one real decision and recover a saved title another day. If that helps, build your profile gradually from films and shows you know. If your current Likewise/Pix routine already produces choices you enjoy, there is no need to move merely because an alternative exists.

Official product pages establish the features described here. We have not treated old reviews or earlier branding as evidence that current capabilities were removed.
