ReelRecs vs Reelgood for personal choice and streaming lookup
Use Reelgood if you want a streaming guide with discovery, saved lists and tracking across services. Try ReelRecs when your main need is assessing a movie or show against your personal taste and understanding its Rec Score. Both help with discovery, so compare the decision you need to make rather than the number of titles shown.

From “available” to “appealing”
Finding a film on a service you pay for is useful. Choosing it takes another judgment: whether you want that particular experience tonight. Reelgood and ReelRecs both participate in discovery, with different reasons to become part of your routine.
| Your need | Reelgood | ReelRecs |
|---|---|---|
| Browse your services | Select services and explore their titles | Consider personal suggestions and listed provider options |
| Find something new | Recommendations, collections and Roulette advertised | For You recommendations shaped by ratings |
| Investigate a movie | Ratings, trailers and title information | Rec Score, its explanation and title details |
| Keep a candidate | Lists and movie tracking | Save and recover titles |
| Follow television | Episode tracking and alerts advertised | Personal TV suggestions and title checking |
Reelgood's official App Store listing describes discovery, tracking and availability features, including personalized Cue recommendations in its release history. It lists iPhone, iPad and Apple TV and a free download. A release date alone does not tell you whether its current service is working. Reelgood's developer listing.
When you already know the title
Suppose a friend sends you a movie recommendation during the day. You want to know two things before evening: whether it sounds right for you and whether watching it requires another purchase.
In ReelRecs, set up your account and taste ratings, search for the exact title, and check the release year. Read Rec Score and its explanation. A title you already rated can instead display Your Score, so read the label. Open Where to Watch and inspect the available categories.
The known-title guide shows Past Lives at Rec Score 7.0 for an existing profile. Its historical US provider example had rental options even though Subscription was empty. That captured result illustrates how to interpret categories; it does not establish today's availability in your country.
When comparing services yourself, use the same movie, country and date. Check the final provider page. A search result that lists a service is not a completed playback test or proof that your particular subscription includes the film.
When you have no title in mind
Start with the evening's limits: time, energy and willingness to rent. Choose a small number of candidates rather than continuing to enlarge the list. In ReelRecs, look at the explanation for a suggestion you find promising. Ask whether the reasons sound relevant to what you want today.
For example, an interest in crime films does not always mean wanting a long, serious historical drama. If the prediction is appealing but the occasion is wrong, save it. A recommendation app earns its place when it helps you make that distinction and return to the candidate later.
After watching, rate the film honestly. Keep the result separate from the provider question: a disappointing film that streamed correctly was a taste decision, while a broken offer was an access problem.
Which belongs in your routine?
Keep Reelgood if its service browsing, tracking and lists already get you to films you enjoy. Add ReelRecs if a visible personal-score explanation would make your decisions more informed. You can try that on a few titles without replacing your existing entertainment organizer or copying all its history.
