Two films can need different kinds of investigation
The IMDb sources reviewed for this comparison showed Killers of the Flower Moon at 7.5/10 and mother! at 6.6/10. Those are changing public ratings, not ratings for you. They help describe audience response, but a higher number does not settle which experience you want. Killers of the Flower Moon ratings and mother!.
For a long historical crime drama, your immediate concern might be the time and attention it asks for. For an intense psychological horror film, it might be your tolerance for distress and ambiguity. Read the premise and relevant reviews with that question in mind. A useful review explains the feature you care about, even when you disagree with its final verdict.
ReelRecs can add your own taste to the investigation. Create an account, rate titles you have watched and search for the candidate. Inspect the Rec Score and tap its information icon. Ask whether the reason matches something you enjoy or flags something you avoid. Do not convert either service's number into a promise of enjoyment.
A concrete personal-score example
The ReelRecs discovery guide records Killers of the Flower Moon at Rec Score 8.0 for a rated test profile. Its explanation connects the film to that profile's ratings, including GoodFellas, and notes an era difference. The runtime shown is 3 hours 26 minutes.
A reader can use that information to save the film for a longer evening. The personal score and IMDb's public rating have different inputs and meanings; subtracting them would not measure which system is better. Nor does the example establish what your profile would receive.
When IMDb is enough
If you already have an IMDb watchlist, use Top Picks and the contributing-title information before deciding that you need another service. For checking credits, trailers or how a film was received, IMDb may answer the whole question. Its watchlist can also keep your candidates organized.
