ReelRecs guides
Use ReelRecs without bringing your friends
You can use ReelRecs on your own. Create an account, complete taste setup, explore personal recommendations or search for a title, then inspect its score and save it. Friends and Watch+ groups are additional ways to choose; they are not required for the personal discovery flow.

Start with your own taste
Rate titles you have watched and can judge clearly. A few honest reference points are more useful than pretending you have seen every popular film. The setup gives ReelRecs information for a personal profile; it does not require your friends to supply opinions for you.
Once you reach the app, use For You to explore suggestions. If you already have a candidate from a review, a conversation or a trailer, search for its name instead. Check the year to avoid selecting a remake or similarly named show.
A complete solo route
| Step | What to do | What you learn |
|---|---|---|
| Find a candidate | Open For You or search for a known title | Which film or show you are considering |
| Inspect fit | Read the Rec Score and open its explanation | Why this profile may respond to it |
| Check the occasion | Read the description and runtime; use the trailer if helpful | Whether it suits tonight's time and attention |
| Save a possibility | Tap the bookmark | You can return without starting the search again |
| Recover it later | Open Profile and the saved list | The same title is available for another decision |
| Investigate access | Open Where to Watch and confirm with the provider | The current route and cost of playback |
The existing personal-discovery walkthrough follows a single rated profile into Killers of the Flower Moon. Its high personal score does not remove the need for a long evening. Saving it can be the sensible outcome even when the recommendation fits.
How to read a blank Friend Score
The score labels describe different information. Rec Score is a personal prediction. Your Score records your own rating where shown. Friend and World Scores provide other perspectives when data is available. A blank social score is not a personal rejection of the film and does not need to be filled before you can inspect its description or consider your own prediction.
Focus on the evidence available to you. If a personal score is missing, do not turn the blank into an assumed match. Use the title details, your existing opinions and the provider information to decide what to investigate next.
Keep the saved list useful
Bookmarking an unseen title is different from rating a film you watched. The saved-list walkthrough demonstrates saving Past Lives, leaving its page, finding it through Profile and opening the same title again. The film remains a possibility; saving did not mark it as watched.
A reminder choice can appear after saving. In the documented example, choosing Not Now keeps the film saved without enabling reminders. You can maintain a useful list without adding every optional notification.
Add shared choosing only when you need it
Watch+ is useful when another person wants to take part in a continuing shared-choice routine. Each joined member brings a taste profile, and expressed interest helps the group discuss candidates. A Group Score and actual agreement remain different signals.
For an occasional guest who does not want another account, use your solo app to make a small shortlist, then ask for their preferences in conversation. Their input is part of your discussion; it has not become an app-generated joint prediction. Choose together, check access, and keep the remaining candidates for another night.
