JustWatch vs Reelgood for streaming lookup

Both JustWatch and Reelgood can locate streaming offers. In our October 23, 2026 US checks, both listed Netflix and Hulu for The Menu and Prime Video for The Thing (1982), but some other providers and purchase prices differed. Use the guide that serves your region and confirm the final offer with the provider.

A useful comparison starts with the same film

We inspected the public pages for The Menu on JustWatch and Reelgood, plus The Thing on JustWatch and Reelgood on October 23, 2026, with the country set to the United States. These are listing checks, not playback or subscription-entitlement tests.

The year matters. The Menu also names a 2016 film, and The Thing has a 2011 film as well as the 1982 title. A correct-looking page for the wrong year can send you to the wrong viewing offer.

What the two checks showed

Film and offer JustWatch displayed Reelgood displayed
The Menu: selected subscription options Netflix and Hulu, among others Netflix and Hulu, among others
The Menu: Amazon/Prime Video rental $3.99 $3.99
The Menu: Amazon/Prime Video purchase $4.99 $14.99
The Thing (1982): selected subscription option Prime Video Prime Video
The Thing: Apple TV Store rental $3.99 $3.99
The Thing: Fandango purchase $5.00 $7.99

These are dated displayed examples, not today's guaranteed prices or complete lists. We did not determine which differing purchase offer was correct. The actionable next step is to open the provider and confirm the version, quality and price there.

Both guides also showed additional subscription or channel routes. Counting these as interchangeable can hide a cost: an AMC+ channel subscription, for example, is a different entitlement from the main service where it is sold.

Read promotional offers literally

For The Menu, Reelgood placed a promoted Prime Video rent-or-buy entry above the other options. JustWatch's page included a promoted Prime Video item for similar movies. Neither should be read as proof that the exact film is included in a basic Prime subscription.

For The Thing, a free-trial promotion appeared alongside subscription offers. Eligibility and renewal terms depend on the provider and account. The useful information is the complete offer, not the largest button or most familiar logo.

Choose by your ongoing routine

JustWatch is useful when its region-specific pages and offer filters answer your lookup quickly. Reelgood is worth considering when you also use its saved titles, seen state and lists. Both services offer ways to keep candidates; choose the list you will actually revisit.

If you mainly watch on a television, check the handoff on that device before making it your routine. A successful browser link on a phone does not establish that every TV app opens to the correct season. You need only verify the path you intend to use.

When the guides disagree

Confirm the title year and country, refresh the listing, then visit the relevant provider. Check whether the price is rental or purchase and whether a channel or bundle is required. If you report a stale offer, include the specific title and region so the report is useful.

Once the access question is solved, a different uncertainty may remain: would you enjoy the film? ReelRecs' title-checking workflow adds a personal prediction and explanation. That can complement either guide without pretending to replace the provider's final access check.
