Best apps for finding your next TV show

Start with ReelRecs, Taste or Watchworthy for personal TV suggestions. Use JustWatch when finding an available series is the main problem. If you need to track the next unwatched episode, choose a dedicated tracker as well; selecting a new show and maintaining episode progress are different jobs.

Decide whether you need a new show or a viewing record

A series asks for more than its opening episode. You may be looking for familiar characters, a completed story, a weekly shared habit or something to watch over dinner. Identify that need before opening a large catalog.

Main need Useful starting point Information to inspect
A show connected to your wider taste ReelRecs Personal prediction, its reason and a saved candidate
A taste-matching discovery service Taste Ratings input, streaming preferences and the resulting suggestions
Personal Worthy scores and filters Watchworthy Suggested shows and the advertised service, mood and genre filters
Something available on a service you have JustWatch Country, season, provider and offer type

This shortlist draws on official product descriptions and the recorded ReelRecs workflow. It does not rank prediction accuracy. TV Time's official homepage now carries a farewell message, so it is not included here as a fresh recommendation for starting a TV record.

Specify the commitment before the genre

“Another science-fiction series” leaves out whether you want eight episodes or several seasons, a solved mystery or an ongoing world. Write a more useful brief: “A contained story with workplace tension, watched in a few evenings, without reading plot summaries that reveal the ending.”

Check format and season information with the show's official source or provider. A limited-series label tells you the planned size of that run, but does not promise that every idea resolves neatly. An episode runtime also says little about how hard it will be to stop after one.

Use a favorite as an anchor

Rate a series you have watched honestly in ReelRecs. Add other familiar ratings that show what you do and do not enjoy. A viewer who liked The Bear's relationships but disliked its pressure needs a different direction from someone who wants more intensity.

Open a candidate's actual personal result and explanation, then compare those reasons with the experience you want. The personal discovery guide demonstrates the screen sequence with a film. Your series choices use your own account's results; the film example is not evidence of a specific predicted score for a show.

When a suggestion looks promising, save it. A candidate for a future shared series can be worthwhile even if you want a single self-contained film tonight.

Protect the first episode from unnecessary spoilers

Begin with the premise and format. Avoid browsing late-season episode descriptions merely to judge the commitment. If knowing whether a story finishes matters, ask a trusted person to check that specific point without giving you its ending.

For access, confirm the exact season in your country. A provider offering season one does not establish that every later season is included. JustWatch is useful for investigating this, and the provider's current offer is the final check.

Give the pilot a clear job

Try the opening episode when you have enough attention to assess it. Notice whether the characters, tone and pace fit your brief. Continue because you want to spend more time there. If the result misses, keep the useful preference distinction for the next search and record your actual reaction when you have enough basis to rate it.
