TV Time alternatives for former users
Former TV Time users should start with any export they already have, then compare Trakt and SIMKL for tracking. The official TV Time homepage now displays a farewell. ReelRecs can help discover your next title, but it is not a TV Time account-recovery or episode-history migration service.

Start with the current official status
On October 23, 2026, the original TV Time website displayed a farewell thanking its community. Its homepage did not provide a working tracking interface or an export instruction. Treat a similarly named app or website as a separate product until you have confirmed who operates it.
If you already downloaded a TV Time export, keep an untouched copy. A destination may be able to read that file even when the original service is no longer your daily tracker. A destination's import button cannot retrieve an export you do not have.
Separate recovery from your next choice
There are two jobs here. One is preserving the record of what you watched. The other is finding something new. You can address them separately rather than waiting for perfect history recovery before enjoying another show.
| Need | Option to check |
|---|---|
| Episode progress and an ongoing viewing record | Trakt |
| TV, movies and anime in one tracking system | SIMKL |
| Personal suggestions for your next movie or show | ReelRecs |
| A minimal temporary record | A private list of current shows and the next episode |
For any tracking service, inspect its current TV Time import instructions and the file types it accepts before uploading. Avoid assuming that an old “connect account” tutorial still works.
Use the export you have carefully
Trakt's current product notes describe importing supported records from a TV Time GDPR export. SIMKL also publishes TV Time import options. Its dedicated importer currently says imports are temporarily limited to PRO and VIP members, and accepts previously saved ZIP or TV Time Out JSON exports. Check that requirement before choosing it. Their ability to accept a source does not guarantee that every field from every export version will map cleanly.
After import, check one finished show, one series in progress and any series with specials or a rewatch. Compare episode position, dates and ratings. Keep a note of fields that require manual repair. Do not discard the original archive because the new screen has a plausible total count.
If you have no export, make a small current-viewing list from what you can reliably recall. Record the series, season and next episode. This gives you a useful routine today while you investigate any official recovery route that remains available.
Preserve community expectations
A history file does not bring everyone you followed into a new service. Rebuilding that social context takes participation from those people. Choose a tracker primarily because its daily record works for you, then see where the people you value are active.
Be especially cautious with unfamiliar services offering to restore an old account. Check the destination's identity and official instructions before providing credentials or an archive of your viewing history.
Find your next show separately
ReelRecs can help with discovery after account and taste setup. Its personal recommendation walkthrough shows how to inspect a suggestion and its reason. You can also search a show recommended by a friend and assess it directly.
Keep episode progress in the tracker you choose. Use the recommendation process to decide whether to start a new title, then check access in its provider. This article reports the official farewell and destination documentation checked October 23, 2026; it does not promise recovery of unavailable TV Time data.
