Union Pacific
DramaWestern135 min
After President Lincoln authorizes the Union Pacific Railroad’s push west to California, railroad troubleshooter Jeff Butler (Joel McCrea) is sent to keep construction moving as a corrupt financier tries to stop it for profit. Barbara Stanwyck’s Mollie Monahan, the postmistress and daughter of an engineer, stands between Jeff and his old war buddy Dick Allen, while gambler Sid Campeau serves the men betting against the line. Directed by Cecil B. DeMille, the film brings together railroad expansion, backroom sabotage, and a personal rivalry as the track is forced across the American West.
