Errol Flynn is Wade Hatton, a wagon master who reaches Dodge City just as the railroad turns the Kansas town into a crowded, violent boomtown. After seeing how quickly gambling, corruption, and gunfire overwhelm the place, Wade pins on a badge and agrees to serve as sheriff. Olivia de Havilland and Ann Sheridan join him in a story built around saloons, rail yards, lynch mobs, and a lawman trying to impose order where might has been enough.
