A decade after a violent incident drove him out of Lebanon, former U.S. diplomat Mason Skiles returns to 1980s Beirut to negotiate for a kidnapped colleague. Jon Hamm is Mason, pulled back into a city shaped by war and by memories of the family tragedy tied to the group holding his friend. Alongside him, Rosamund Pike’s undercover CIA field agent works out of the American embassy, charged with keeping Mason alive and moving the operation forward. The film threads hostage bargaining, political pressure, and the unstable terrain around a man forced back into a place he thought he’d left behind.
