The Mauritanian
CrimeDramaThrillerWar129 min
After 9/11, Mohamedou Ould Slahi is taken to Guantánamo Bay and held for years without charge, cut off from any clear path home. Tahar Rahim is Slahi, a Mauritanian detainee whose case reaches defense attorney Nancy Hollander; Jodie Foster brings a flinty resolve to the lawyer as she and associate Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley) push for access to him and the evidence against him. Benedict Cumberbatch's Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch represents the military side of the case, as the film moves between prison interrogations and a legal battle over detention, secrecy, and due process.
