Seven Beauties
ComedyDramaWar116 min
In Mussolini-era Naples, Pasqualino Frafuso is a petty thief who lives off his seven sisters while insisting he alone can defend the family’s honor. Giancarlo Giannini is Pasqualino, a swaggering schemer whose attempt to settle a disgrace by murder sends him through prison, the army, and eventually into German captivity during the war. At the concentration camp, survival pushes his vanity and self-interest into harsher territory. Shirley Stoler appears as the camp commandant Pasqualino tries to use to his advantage, as the film follows his bargains, humiliations, and shifting sense of dignity under pressure.
