Les Misérables
Drama210 min
In 19th-century France, Jean Gabin is Jean Valjean, a former prisoner jailed for stealing bread who spends years trying to stay ahead of the relentless policeman Javert. As the chase stretches across both men’s lives, Valjean is pulled into a country marked by poverty, upheaval, and the growing unrest of the student revolutions. Jean-Paul Le Chanois’s adaptation keeps its focus on the long conflict between one man seeking escape and another defined by pursuit, with Bernard Blier and Danièle Delorme among the central figures around them.
