Boccaccio '70

ComedyFantasyRomance208 min

Four comic stories circle sex, marriage, and public respectability in 1960s Italy, moving from flirtation and office politics in the city to a small-town fair where a winning ticket sets off a domestic scramble. Anita Ekberg looms over one segment as the face on a milk advertisement that begins to haunt an aging prude, while Sophia Loren is the glamorous wife in another, stuck with a husband whose affairs are impossible to ignore. Directed by Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti, Vittorio De Sica, and Mario Monicelli, the anthology shifts between satire, fantasy, and brittle social comedy.
