A bank clerk wakes to find himself under arrest, yet no one will tell him what crime he is accused of. Allowed to keep going to work but trapped inside a baffling legal process, he chases answers through empty offices, crowded hearing rooms, and endless corridors where every official seems to know more than he does. As the case tightens around him, ordinary routines turn strange and every attempt to defend himself pulls him deeper into a system that offers procedure without clarity. Anthony Perkins anchors the panic at the center of it, while writer-director Orson Welles shapes the court into a maze of authority, suspicion, and dread.
