The Big Scare

ComedyCrimeFamilyFantasyHorrorMysteryRomanceThriller89 min

Two police inspectors are sent after a dangerous counterfeiter on the run, turning a criminal pursuit into a crooked chase through 1960s France. Bourvil is one of the investigators, while Jean-Louis Barrault joins him as the other half of the hunt, with suspects, detours and shifting alliances crowding the case. Shot in black and white, the film moves between police mystery and farce, folding in romance, thriller tension and a satirical streak that keeps the search slightly off balance.
