Weekend at Dunkirk

DramaWar119 min

On the beaches near Dunkirk in June 1940, French sergeant Julien Maillat is stranded with his men as the Allied evacuation to England unfolds and German forces close in from every side. Jean-Paul Belmondo is Maillat, trying to keep a unit together while arguments over retreat, duty, and whether to stay and fight keep breaking out. Catherine Spaak appears in the swirl around them as the film moves through bombardment, crowded roads, and the uneasy waiting of soldiers trapped between the sea and a collapsing front.
