The Cockleshell Heroes
ActionAdventureDramaWar97 min
In December 1942, a small unit of British Royal Marines is sent on a near-suicidal mission: slip into occupied France, paddle folding kayaks up to Bordeaux Harbour, and strike German cargo ships from the water. Training is brutal, tempers flare, and the men have to master an operation that leaves almost no room for error. Once they are launched, the mission turns into a race against tides, exhaustion, patrols, and the coastline itself. Trevor Howard and José Ferrer are among the officers driving the raid, as the film follows the commandos from tense preparation to the dangerous approach on one of the war’s most exposed sabotage missions.
