Richard Pryor is Montgomery Brewster, a minor-league baseball pitcher who learns he can inherit $300 million—but only if he spends $30 million in 30 days and has nothing to show for it at the end. The problem isn’t just burning through the cash; Brewster can’t tell anyone why he’s suddenly living like a millionaire, even as every purchase draws more suspicion. With his pal Spike nearby, John Candy adds to the scramble as Brewster moves from hotel suites to headline-making extravagance while a team of lawyers tracks whether he’s following the rules or blowing the deal entirely.
