Planes, Trains & Automobiles
ComedyDrama93 min
A diverted flight turns Neal Page’s Thanksgiving trip home to Chicago into a long, improvised trek with Del Griffith, the shower curtain ring salesman he can’t seem to escape. Steve Martin is Neal, an irritable marketing executive trying to keep control as every connection goes wrong; John Candy’s Del is talkative, disheveled, and determined to stay upbeat no matter how bad the trip gets. Written and directed by John Hughes, the film follows the pair from New York through airports, train stations, and highway detours as small travel disasters pile up and an unwanted partnership starts to take shape.
