In a small Czech town, seven friends try to hold onto their bonds as the years after World War II reshape village life from 1945 into the late 1950s. Vlastimil Brodský and Radoslav Brzobohatý are among the faces in a close-knit community where marriages, feuds, work, and politics keep colliding. As the country changes, the story follows ordinary routines and public gatherings—meals, arguments, celebrations, reckonings—showing how national upheaval reaches into friendships and family life. The result is a broad portrait of postwar Czechoslovakia told through one town and the people who know each other too well.
