After a government cocktail party, bureaucrat Ludvik returns home uneasy: colleagues have disappeared, he overheard something troubling, and now his house seems to be under surveillance. Radoslav Brzobohatý is Ludvik, spending the night with growing dread that an arrest may come by morning, while Jirina Bohdalová's Anna tries to keep up appearances as the couple move carefully around hidden microphones and cameras. In Czech and set under Communist rule, the film confines its tension to a single night, where political suspicion and a fraying marriage press in on the same apartment walls.
