When a pair of 20th-century friends veer off the road and wake up in 1492, survival quickly gives way to panic: they have no way home, no way to explain themselves, and far too many chances to interfere with history. Massimo Troisi and Roberto Benigni bicker and improvise their way through the 15th century, crossing paths with a local teenager and fumbling their attempts to nudge events in a different direction. The comedy comes from their modern instincts colliding with Renaissance life, as everyday confusion turns time travel into a chain of misunderstandings.
