Suffragette
Drama106 min
Carey Mulligan is Maud Watts, a London laundry worker drawn into the British suffrage movement as police pressure and public hostility intensify. Alongside women played by Helena Bonham Carter and Anne-Marie Duff, Maud becomes part of a campaign that shifts from petitions and peaceful protest to clandestine action, with jobs, homes, and family life on the line. Based on true events and set in 1910s Britain, the film centers the working women at the heart of the fight for the vote as the state answers with surveillance, arrests, and force.
