The Doors

Drama140 min

Oliver Stone traces the rise of The Doors through Jim Morrison, the Los Angeles film student whose poetry and stage presence turn a local band into a 1960s rock phenomenon. Val Kilmer is Morrison, moving from early club gigs to fame with a singer’s swagger and a self-destructive streak, while Meg Ryan’s Pamela Courson stands at the center of his turbulent private life. With Kyle MacLachlan’s Ray Manzarek and the rest of the band close by, the film mixes concerts, rehearsals, flashbacks, and drug-fueled hallucinations into a portrait of celebrity, excess, and counterculture.
