Pump Up the Volume
ComedyDrama105 min
By day, Mark Hunter is a shy new student in an Arizona town; by night, Christian Slater’s Mark becomes Hard Harry, the anonymous pirate-radio DJ whose uncensored broadcasts race through his high school. His late-night monologues on sex, loneliness, and authority turn him into a local cult figure, even as his classmates have no idea who’s behind the mic. Samantha Mathis is among the students pulled toward Harry’s voice as the show spreads. When a teen’s suicide is blamed on the broadcast, faculty and local authorities move to shut it down, and Mark’s secret life spills into a larger clash over censorship and control.
