The Idiots

ComedyDrama117 min

In a suburban Copenhagen house, a self-made commune pushes against social rules by trying to uncover the “inner idiot” in each member. Bodil Jørgensen and Jens Albinus are among the residents, who turn ordinary situations into public scenes, private tests, and escalating acts of group provocation. Written and directed by Lars von Trier, the film was made under the Dogme 95 rules, using rough digital camerawork and stripped-down staging that keep the line between performance and behavior deliberately unstable.
