Le Dîner de Cons

Comedy80 min

Every Wednesday, Pierre Brochant and his friends stage “Idiots’ Day”: each man brings the biggest fool he can find to dinner, and the most embarrassing guest wins. Thierry Lhermitte is Brochant, a smug host who thinks he has the evening locked up when he invites François Pignon. Jacques Villeret’s Pignon, a well-meaning tax inspector with a talent for setting off one disaster after another, throws Brochant’s night into chaos before the dinner can even begin. Built around a single unraveling evening, the film turns a nasty little social ritual into a farce of phone calls, misunderstandings, and mounting humiliation.
