The Best of Youth
DramaRomance366 min
A chance meeting in the summer of 1966 sends two Roman brothers onto sharply different paths, and their lives keep crossing the upheavals that reshape Italy over the next decades. Luigi Lo Cascio is Nicola, whose work as a psychiatrist draws him toward other people’s crises, while Alessio Boni’s Matteo turns into a restless idealist in uniform. As the Carati family moves through separations, marriages, protest movements, and national scandals, the story follows them from youth into middle age, tying private choices to the broader history of Italy from the Years of Lead into the early 2000s.
