Rome, Open City

DramaThrillerWar103 min

During the Nazi occupation of Rome in 1944, Resistance leader Giorgio Manfredi is hunted across the city as he searches for shelter, allies, and a way out. His escape effort runs through apartments, church circles, and crowded streets under curfew, pulling in Aldo Fabrizi's Catholic priest, who quietly aids the partisan cause, and Anna Magnani as the fiancée of a resistance member. The film stays close to daily life under occupation: raids, informants, and the strain on ordinary Romans trying to keep one another hidden.
