Army of Shadows

DramaThrillerWar145 min

Philippe Gerbier is a Resistance operative betrayed to the Nazis and sent to a prison camp, then pulled back into the covert machinery of occupied France after a narrow escape. Lino Ventura gives Gerbier a hard, watchful presence as he moves between Marseille safe houses, coded rendezvous, and sudden arrests. Around him, the network includes seasoned figures like Simone Signoret's Mathilde, each one working under the constant risk of informants, capture, and execution. The war here is fought in whispers, disguises, and split-second decisions, with loyalty under pressure at every turn.
