The Leopard

Drama186 min

As Garibaldi’s forces drive the unification of Italy in the 1860s, an aging Sicilian prince watches the old aristocratic order slip beneath his family. Burt Lancaster is the nobleman at the center, trying to preserve rank and tradition while politics and class alliances shift around him. His nephew (Alain Delon) sees opportunity in the upheaval, and Claudia Cardinale is the young woman from a rising family who draws the old nobility into a new social order. As marriages are arranged and loyalties tested, the changes reshaping Sicily move from the battlefield into the prince’s own home.
