Paths of Glory
DramaWar88 min
After a failed 1916 offensive in the French Army, Colonel Dax is ordered to defend three of his own men, singled out as scapegoats and charged with cowardice. Kirk Douglas is Dax, an officer caught between the soldiers in the trenches and generals determined to protect their authority; Adolphe Menjou's General Broulard and George Macready's General Mireau stand at the top of that chain of command. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, the film moves from World War I battle lines to a military courtroom, where the case against the accused turns on discipline, class, and the needs of the men above them.
