The Last King of Scotland

DramaThrillerWar123 min

Fresh out of medical school, James McAvoy’s Nicholas Garrigan heads to Uganda in the early 1970s looking for adventure and arrives as President Obote falls from power. General Idi Amin soon takes control, and Forest Whitaker is the new ruler who takes a liking to the young Scot, asking him to serve as his personal doctor. What begins as an unlikely opportunity places Garrigan inside the presidential circle, close to the pageantry, paranoia, and brutality of Amin’s regime as events in Kampala shift around him.
