The King's Speech

Drama118 min

After his brother abdicates, Prince Albert—known as Bertie—reluctantly becomes King George VI just as Britain edges toward war. Colin Firth is the anxious royal, burdened by a severe stammer and the public demands of the throne, while Geoffrey Rush’s Lionel Logue is the Australian speech therapist who meets palace protocol with unorthodox methods and blunt honesty. Helena Bonham Carter appears as Bertie’s steadfast wife, Elizabeth, as the story moves through Buckingham Palace, broadcasting rooms, and private therapy sessions in 1930s Britain, following the unlikely bond that helps a hesitant monarch find a public voice.
