Singin' in the Rain
ComedyMusicalRomance103 min
In 1927 Hollywood, silent-screen star Don Lockwood is riding high until talking pictures upend the industry and expose the shaky foundation of his famous on-screen partnership with Lina Lamont. Gene Kelly is Don, a polished matinee idol suddenly forced to worry about microphones, diction, and what audiences will hear when the cameras roll. At the same time, he falls for aspiring performer Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), whose talent and poise stand in sharp contrast to the studio chaos around him. Behind the romance, the story turns the movie business itself into the setting: sound stages, publicity, rehearsals, and the scramble to survive the end of the silent era.
