Diamonds of the Night

DramaWar67 min

After jumping from a train bound from one concentration camp to another, two Jewish boys run into the surrounding woods and try to stay ahead of capture. Antonín Kumbera and Ladislav Jánsky are the fugitives, moving through brush, hunger, and exhaustion as memories, fears, and imagined possibilities break across the film’s stripped-down survival story. The war stays close at hand, but the focus narrows to their bodies and their state of mind: fog, sudden flashes of violence, and fragments of thought that blur what’s happening now with what they remember or dread.
