At an isolated research station in Antarctica, an American team takes in a violent, baffling crisis after a sled dog arrives from a nearby Norwegian camp. What first looks like an attack by a strange animal turns into something far worse: an alien organism that can absorb and perfectly imitate any living thing. As the men try to figure out what they are dealing with, trust collapses. Anyone could already be infected, and every injury, disappearance, and sudden outburst makes the station more dangerous. With helicopter pilot MacReady, played by Kurt Russell, caught in the middle, survival depends on finding the creature before suspicion tears the group apart.
