A documentary crew follows several contenders at the Mayflower Dog Show, where months of grooming and breeding politics spill into a weekend of nerves, pageantry, and very serious small talk. Eugene Levy is Gerry Fleck, a mild salesman entering his Norwich terrier alongside Cookie, his overfriendly wife, whose habit of running into old flames gives Catherine O’Hara one awkward encounter after another. Elsewhere, Parker Posey’s tense Meg Swan hovers over her Weimaraner, while Fred Willard’s clueless commentator Buck Laughlin tries to explain the spectacle from the broadcast booth.
