Fort Apache

DramaWestern128 min

At a remote 19th-century cavalry post, Owen Thursday (Henry Fonda) sees his transfer to Fort Apache as a chance to reclaim the honor he believes is owed him. Arrogant and rigid about military form, Thursday quickly clashes with his subordinates, including John Wayne’s Captain York, when he ignores their warnings and turns his attention to Apache chief Cochise. Directed by John Ford, the story stays close to the routines and tensions of fort life as Thursday’s hunger for military glory pulls the outpost toward a dangerous confrontation.
