After a crooked singer cons him over a prize car, movie-mad Malcolm Smith hits the road for Hollywood with the very man who cheated him, convinced they’re bound for a life next door to Anita Ekberg. Jerry Lewis is Malcolm, a wide-eyed fan whose dream trip quickly gets out of hand, while Dean Martin’s Steve Wiley is a smooth operator trying to stay ahead of his own problems. Pat Crowley turns up along the way as their cross-country drive slides through musical numbers, roadside chaos, and a broad satire of Hollywood glamour and make-believe.
