Takaki Tono’s life is split into three stages, tracing what happens after childhood closeness gives way to distance. First separated from Akari, then quietly orbiting Kanae’s unspoken feelings, Takaki moves into adulthood carrying memories, disappointments, and the sense of connections slipping just out of reach. Makoto Shinkai structures the film as three linked chapters, moving from school-age train rides to a cold city routine. Kenji Mizuhashi voices Takaki, with Yoshimi Kondou among the voices marking the people who shape each phase of his life.
