Anna and the King

DramaRomance148 min

Widowed British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens arrives in 1860s Siam to educate the many children and wives of King Mongkut, stepping into a royal household ruled by ceremony, hierarchy, and close scrutiny. Jodie Foster is Anna, whose insistence on dignity and independence puts her at odds with palace custom even as she becomes essential to court life. Opposite her, Chow Yun-Fat’s Mongkut is a powerful ruler whose bond with his new teacher grows beyond formal lessons. The story centers on their uneasy, intimate connection inside the palace, where cultural differences and mutual respect keep pushing them together.
