Days before his 65th birthday, wealthy executive Bill Parrish begins hearing a voice no one else can hear, then meets a stranger who calmly identifies himself as Death. Anthony Hopkins is Bill, who bargains for a little more time by agreeing to show Brad Pitt’s Joe Black how people live. The arrangement grows complicated when Joe becomes interested in Bill’s daughter Susan, a doctor with her own guarded life, with Claire Forlani at the center of that connection. What begins as a private deal unfolds inside Bill’s family and business circle, where mortality suddenly has a face and a seat at the table.
