Goto: Island of Love
Drama93 min
On the isolated archipelago of Goto, cut off from civilization after a violent earthquake, a petty thief tries to climb the island’s bizarre social order while pursuing Glossia, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to its melancholy dictator. Pierre Brasseur and Ligia Branice sit at the center of this sealed-off world, where desire, status, and obedience are knotted together. As the thief moves upward through Goto’s absurd hierarchy, the film turns the island into a strange little state of rituals, punishments, and frustrated longing.
